KUNDA on cement - and harbor city, which be situated on the northern shore of Virumaa, on a picturesque limestone bank
Kunda town mainly associates with cement which, thanks to the local raw materjal, has been produced here for over a hundred years. Beside the Kunda river situated BOTTLE KILN is possibly the only preserved one among the similar kilns in Europe.In fact the fame of Kunda started with the foundation of the port at the beginning of the 19th century. The port was the gate for communicating with the rest of the world and the increase in trading helped the town of Kunda to develop.The overview of Kunda history gaves Kunda Museum. From the museum towards harbor stays 1928 years built-up KUNDA CHURCH. This is also the only church in Estonia where the bell couldn't fit in the tower and has been put up outside, with the help of a console. |
